Eight opera highlights live from the MET Opera in New York in Austrian cinemas
The live broadcasts of the MET Opera from New York directly to the Cineplexx cinemas in Austria have enjoyed great popularity in recent years. Because anticipation is known to be the best joy, we have decided to start advance sales for the new season earlier and expand the program to include an additional performance. This year we are presenting our culture and cinema fans eight great works from all over the world and in a wide variety of languages, of course with German subtitles

The MET opera season 23/24 ended in May with a brilliant finale of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly”. Just a few days later, Cineplexx is arousing anticipation for the new season, as subscription pre-sales start this week, on June 5, 2024. For the MET-Opera 2024/25 season, Cineplexx is going one better this year: the Austrian family company is taking A total of eight opera highlights live from the renowned Metropolitan Opera in New York in nine Cineplexx cinemas from east to west. A good mix of popular classics and exciting new productions impresses new audiences as well as long-time opera fans. Single tickets to get to know the great cultural series can be purchased online from September 11, 2024 cineplexx.at or can be purchased at all box offices of the participating Cineplexx Opera cinemas from 5 p.m.
The curtain rises on eight live highlights from the MET Opera in New York
The start of this year’s opera season is the French production “Les contes d’Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach with the popular “Romeo actor” Benjamin Bernheim on October 5, 2024. This will be followed, among other things, by the Italian classics “Le Nozze di Figaro” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Giacomo Puccini’s “Tosca”. The year 2025 will open on January 25, 2025 with the new production “Aida” by Guiseppe Verdi and continues brilliantly with prominent classics by Beethoven and Mozart. On May 31, 2025, the opera season will finally come to a worthy conclusion with the comedy “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by Gioachino Rossini.
