The New Year’s celebrations at the 33rd Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail have been taking place since 2 p.m. In the city center, where seven of the eight stages are located, all 40 upstream security barriers have now been put into operation.
Upstream barriers active: Access only possible via access points
Access to the Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail event site in the first district is now only possible for visitors via the following access points:
Dr.-Karl-Renner-Ring/Stadiongasse, Universitätsring/Grillparzerstraße, Josef-Meinrad-Platz/Löwelstraße, Schottengasse/Teinfaltstraße, Michaelerplatz/Kohlmarkt, Rotenturmstraße/Lugeck and Kärntner Straße/Krugerstraße.

All stages are still open. The Universitätsring has been closed to traffic since 8 p.m., and the tram lines in this area have also been diverted or shortened. The Stephansplatz station has also been closed since around 9:30 p.m. and is served by the U1 and U3 subway lines.
