A “murder in a prime location” – the latest case involving “The Dead of Salzburg”

Final days of filming on the set of the eleventh film in the successful ORF/ZDF crime series with Michael Fitz, Fanny Krausz and Erwin Steinhauer

Vienna (OTS) Michael Fitz, Fanny Krausz and Erwin Steinhauer find themselves in the real estate scene and in the middle of a web of corruption during the filming of the eleventh film in the popular ORF/ZDF crime series “The Dead of Salzburg”, which is now being completed. A “murder in a prime location” calls the investigators into action after a real estate agent is found lifeless. Was the industry too dangerous for the young woman? One thing is certain: She herself – initially highly motivated and enthusiastic – had radically changed her attitude to this before her death and secretly turned against her employer, a tycoon at the top of the real estate hierarchy. Another clue leads into the victim’s past and raises the question of whether there might be someone who wanted revenge on her. Nikolaus Barton, Helmut Bohatsch, Paula Siebert, Sebastian Edtbauer, Michael Schönborn and Susanne Czepl-Zrost, among others, appear in front of the camera in other roles in the film, which was once again directed by Erhard Riedlsperger based on a script by Maria Hinterkoerner. Judith Altenberger, Christopher Schärf, Martina Spitzer, Michael A. Grimm, Laura Euler-Rolle, Sonja Romei, Cosima Lehninger, Erol Nowak, Simon Dietersdorfer, Gerhard Greiner and Jasmin Weissmann are expected to appear on ORF 2 in 2025. Further information on the content of “The Dead of Salzburg: Murder in a Prime Location” is available at presse.ORF.at.

There was a set visit in the presence of, among others, Michael Fitz, Fanny Krausz, Erwin Steinhauer and Martina Spitzer, director Erhard Riedlsperger, producer Heinrich Ambrosch, Salzburg’s deputy state governor Stefan Schnöll as well as the designated Salzburg mayor Bernhard Auinger and ORF state director Waltraud Langer first glimpses of the new film during filming.

Michael Fitz: “High interest rates and rising rents make it an almost insurmountable hurdle for many people to fulfill their dream of owning their own four walls. The plot of ‘Murder in a Prime Location’ confronts us with the question of how far people will go for power and success. The topic is hot right now in Salzburg, and by taking up this topic, we not only want to tell an exciting story, but also stimulate thought.”

Fanny Krausz: “I can slip into the costume again and embody the role of Irene Russmeyer, for the eleventh time, what an honor! This year our case is set in the real estate scene and once again brings a highly topical and explosive topic to the table.”

Erwin Steinhauer: “As Councilor Seywald, I am used to pulling the strings in the background. But ‘Murder in a Prime Location’ brings me right into the center of the action. The local elections have now shown how topical the issue of housing shortages and high real estate prices are in the city of Mozart. Personally, I always look forward to filming in the old town. The guard at Chapter Square only exists in the film, in reality we are filming on premises in the Archdiocese of Salzburg.”

“The Dead of Salzburg” is a production by SATEL Film in co-production with ORF and ZDF, supported by FISAplus, Fernsehenfonds Austria, the state of Salzburg and the city of Salzburg.
