The corridors of the Tierschutz Austria animal shelter in Vösendorf are filled with anticipation, happy children’s laughter and the expectant looks of the animal residents. Because here Christmas is not only celebrated for people, but above all for those who are often in the shadows: the animals. A total of almost 5,000 lovingly packed packages will be handed over to the animals. As a thank you, Tierschutz Austria releases the song “Animal Christmas” and dedicates this song to all animal-loving people in Austria.
“Waiting for the Christ child” – children fulfill animal wishes
Am December 24thas part of the heartwarming “Waiting for Christ Child” campaign, children personally deliver lovingly wrapped gifts to dogs, cats and other animal shelter residents. The presents come from the Christ child campaignthe largest donation initiative in Austria. Animal lovers were able to fulfill wishes from the animals’ wish cards – an overwhelming success by just a little 5,000 donated packages.
With their eyes shining, the children read the animals’ wishes from the cards. One of these messages is particularly touching:
“Dear Zeus, we wish you a little more joy with these treats. We hope with all our hearts that you will soon join your forever family. We are sending this wish into the universe and firmly believe that it will come true . Thanks also to the great team at the animal shelter who do so much for you. Merry Christmas!
These heart-touching words represent the great love for animals that comes from every donation. Numerous families, schools and companies from all over Austria supported the campaign and helped make Christmas at the animal shelter a celebration of joy.
