Eurovision Song Contest 2024: Up to 1.2 million watched the final on ORF 1

A total of 3.1 million attended the ORF live offerings during the ESC week

Vienna (OTS) After successfully reaching the final on Thursday (May 9th, 2024), Austria’s song contest artist Kaleen with start number 26 and her song “We Will Rave” finalized the presentation of the songs of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest yesterday evening (May 11th, 2024). Malmö – and in front of an ORF 1 audience of millions: Up to 1.185 million viewers were there live on ORF 1 for the 68th ESC, which Nemo from Switzerland won. An average of 1.007 million with a 48 percent market share watched the four-hour live broadcast of this year’s edition of the singing competition of Europe’s public broadcasters. 1.111 million viewers watched Kaleen’s performance alone. The market share was 52 percent. This means that every second person who watched TV in Austria during broadcast time saw Austria’s act. The voting by the expert jury and audience was also a crowd puller:
An average of 972,000 people did not miss the awarding of points at midnight, in which Austria was ranked 24th. The voting achieved a market share of 57 percent for ages 12+. The decision at 12:15 a.m. still came to 895,000 with a 63 percent market share.

ESC tops with the young ORF 1 audience

The presentation of the songs achieved 56 percent (12-49) and 79 (12-29) percent market share among the young target groups. 88 percent market share in the decision among twelve to 29 year olds is the highest song contest or Grand Prix D’Eurovision market share ever measured in this target group on ORF. The voting achieved 85 percent market share in this target group. The ESC decision also recorded top scores with 67 percent at 12-49. Over the entire evening, yesterday’s ESC achieved 81 percent market share at 12-29 – and thus also a top value.
A total of 2.234 million viewers, which is 30 percent of the domestic TV population aged twelve and over (widest circle of viewers), watched the ESC final evening on ORF 1.

The entire ORF 1 ESC week with the ESC evenings on May 7th, 9th and 11th, with “Mr. Song Contest proudly presents”, the ORF 1/ARD/SRF 1 supporting programs “ESC – The Countdown”, “ESC – The Aftershow” and the live shows were seen by a total of 3.077 million viewers, which is 41 percent of domestic TV -Population aged twelve and over (widest circle of seers). The ORF-TVthek and ORF ON broadcast live streams of the semifinal evenings and the final, and the shows are also available as video-on-demand.

Kaleen: “Dream come true”

Kaleen after the Eurovision Song Contest: “I had a perfect stage performance yesterday. Exactly what my team and I have been working towards for so long. I couldn’t be more grateful for the great support I’ve received from so many quarters. My dream of showing my skills in front of such a large audience has come true and for me personally, yesterday evening was the start of something big. “I can look forward to working with my record label Global Records and to many more projects,” says Kaleen.

On Tuesday after her return from the ESC in Malmö, Kaleen will appear at the 4GAMECHANGERS Festival by ProSiebenSat.1 PULS 4 & ORF in Vienna’s MARX HALLE and perform her song “We Will Rave”.

The current “Zeit im Bild” programs, “Guten Morgen Österreich”, Hitradio Ö3, Radio FM4 and the ORF regional studios will report on the final night in Malmö today and tomorrow.
