Fast, easy and stress-free to AIRPOWER24

Traffic concept for AIRPOWER24

Vienna (OTS) Together with external traffic experts and experts from the civil authorities, ASFINAG and the police, a separate project group from the Austrian Armed Forces has been working on the details of the traffic concept for AIRPOWER24 since the summer of last year. All information on how to get to AIRPOWER24 has now been provided www.airpower24.at/anreise put online and all booking interfaces opened for the numerous options for traveling by public transport. “The new transport concept can be summarized simply: Convenient, environmentally friendly and just a few minutes’ walk from the middle of the event site. It has never been easier or quicker to travel to AIRPOWER24 by public transport. As Europe’s largest air show, AIRPOWER24 actually sets new standards when it comes to environmentally friendly travel!”, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner presents the key points of the new transport concept for AIRPOWER24.

The key points of the traffic concept:

  • With specially rented shuttle trains from state capitals and our own bus routes with hundreds of possible boarding points throughout Austria directly to Zeltweg, the capacity of public transport will be significantly increased this year.
  • With the simultaneous relief of the Zeltweg train station through the increased use of the Judenburg and Knittelfeld train stations as well as additional parking spaces with bus shuttle service, the passenger frequency at the Zeltweg train station on the event days will be significantly minimized.
  • An increased frequency of regular train traffic will be made possible by the recently fixed extension of a platform at Zeltweg station.

“In any case, we have significantly increased the capacity in the area of public travel and expect this to also reduce the number of journeys by private vehicles. You can get to the Judenburg or Knittelfeld train stations in a particularly sustainable, traffic-free and stress-free manner with the special ÖBB trains we provide from Villach, Salzburg, Linz and Vienna without stopping and you can be directly at the event site in just a few minutes using the comfortable free AIRPOWER shuttles AIRPOWER24! This year we will therefore be able to significantly reduce the traffic jams on the access roads and the higher-ranking road network, although a certain amount of traffic in the expected influx in the morning and evening peaks, as with any other major event, cannot be completely prevented,” explains Brigadier Wolfgang Prieler, project manager AIRPOWER24.

The first 1,000 bus tickets for just 24 euros!

“Our own bus lines with hundreds of possible boarding points throughout Austria take you directly to the event site. The first 1,000 bus tickets cost just 24 euros at a special preferential price, regardless of which part of Austria you want to travel from. In addition, after the end of the flight program at 5 p.m., additional program items, such as an open-air cinema, sports demonstrations and military music performances, will be offered directly in the viewing room of AIRPOWER24 on both Friday and Saturday until 7 p.m. in order to further relieve the evening traffic peak,” added plus Colonel Peter Braun, the project manager for all traffic issues at AIRPOWER24.

Parking tickets already available

If you still want to travel by car or motorcycle, you need a parking ticket, which can be purchased via Ö-Ticket (www.oeticket.com) can be booked in advance. From all parking areas you can either walk directly to the event site or take one of the free AIRPOWER shuttles. There is also a dedicated motorcycle parking space close to the site, which can also be booked in advance via Ö-Ticket. From the car parking lot in Kraubath, right next to the S36, you can take a free shuttle train to the event site. Here the parking ticket is also valid as a train ticket. Physically impaired people have their own disabled parking spaces, which can be used free of charge upon presentation of a disabled person’s ID card.

“However, you have the greatest flexibility if you travel from the region by bike. It is possible to travel directly to the event site, and the bike can be parked in a separate and secure parking space at the Zeltweg sports center,” concludes Braun.
