Linz (OTS) – During the constitutive general assembly of the XVII. Andreas Stangl was re-elected AK President with 73.64 percent. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized how important it is to actively shape change in the world of work. Technological progress must benefit everyone. In his demands and goals for the next five years, the AK President always focuses on one thing: more justice.

“, emphasizes AK President Andreas Stangl in his inaugural speech at today’s inaugural general assembly. Above all, the ecological and digital transformation will shape the world of work. “Our responsibility is to ensure that new technologies are used for the benefit of all.
A higher labor market budget for retraining and further training, a European industrial and location policy and a practical supply chain law are just some of the president’s demands.
Differences in income are unacceptable
Whether in education, health, income or taxes: more justice is the guiding principle of the re-elected AK President. “I don’t want to accept that a girl is basically born with the difference in income.
Women would still earn 21 percent less than men if they worked full-time. However, the massive gender pay gap is not the only grievance when it comes to income equality: “It is also incomprehensible that a quarter of the overtime hours are not paid. 47 million overtime hours correspond to 1.3 billion euros in withheld claims
“, warns Andreas Stangl. He strongly criticizes the industrial association’s demand for a 41-hour week and thus for free work.
AK President calls for self-administration of the health insurance fund
The AK President sees health care as one of the biggest construction sites on the path to greater justice. Waiting times for operations are becoming longer and the quality of care is declining. In order to ensure security of supply, Andreas Stangl calls for real self-administration of the health insurance fund: “Employers who are not insured with us must be removed from our health insurance.

Fair educational opportunities for all children
The basis for a good life and financial independence is education. Here, too, there is still a long way to go to greater justice and to an education system in which all children receive equal opportunities. “The education system needs to be restructured with more all-day school types. This is the only way for all children to have a fair chance, regardless of their parents’ wallets or their background
“, the AK president advocates a common school for everyone up to the age of 14.
Across ideological boundaries
How does AK President Andreas Stangl want to start the new five-year term of office? “With courage, determination and collaboration, we can create a workplace that is fair, sustainable and innovative. I want to be a president for all members, no matter who they vote for, what they believe in, or where they come from.
