SPÖ/ÖVP emergency nationalization and SPÖ waiver of the betterment clause have caused massive damage to Carinthia
Klagenfurt (OTS) – For Carinthian FPÖ leader Erwin Angerer, the figures regarding HETA dismantling publicly communicated today by the Carinthian SPÖ finance officer Schaunig confirm the picture that the actors in the last investigative committee once again painted. “To describe HETA’s current dismantling results as a win for Carinthia is sheer mockery. Rather, it is a confirmation of the cover-up, failure and sell-out under the responsibility of the SPÖ and ÖVP,” said Angerer. In reality, it was already clear in 2016 that the liquidation of the assets would bring in much more than the six billion euros assumed by the SPÖ and Schaunig. “Nevertheless, it waived a betterment clause for Carinthia and thereby caused massive damage,” criticizes Angerer.
“Rather, the then ÖVP Finance Minister Pröll and the now SPÖ EU top candidate Schieder should never have bought HYPO back from Bavaria. Since then, Bavaria has received more than 6 billion from the so-called “scandal bank”. All other creditors sometimes even receive over 100%. “The only scandal at HYPO was the unnecessary nationalization under Red/Black and the constant defamation of Jörg Haider and the FPÖ,” confirms Angerer.
In the end, due to Schaunig’s poor negotiations, the state of Carinthia could only hope that something would be left. In this context, Angerer reminds us that the sale of HETA’s assets brought in significantly more than Carinthia’s liability debts. Conversely, the state of Carinthia would never have had to pay the amount of 1.2 billion. “The fact that the dismantling funds received by the state are now to be used to pay off the new debts of €500 million that Schaunig himself created just shows how poorly the state of Carinthia is being managed under the SPÖ and ÖVP,” concluded Angerer.
