20 years of state patron Saint Florian – Upper Austria shows heart

Governor Thomas Stelzer: “Only those who think and act ambitiously can meet the challenges of the times”

Linz (OTS) Upper Austria sticks together, Upper Austria shows heart: Exactly 20 years ago, Saint Florian was appointed the patron saint of Upper Austria. This appointment is a strong, lasting sign of cohesion and solidarity in the country. The anniversary was celebrated on Friday, May 3, 2024, on the eve of the feast of Saint Florian, in the Marble Hall of St. Florian Abbey.

State Governor Mag. Thomas Stelzer pointed out in his speech that the example of Saint Florian is still alive in our society: “It lives everywhere where people come together to be there for each other, to shape our lives together. Therefore, the state’s special thanks go to all clubs and organizations that strive to create this network of cohesion,” emphasized LH Stelzer.

This is also the basis on which we can shape the future: “Upper Austria is the region in which future-oriented development is lived: through consistent determination in action, a realistic view of necessary decisions, openness to innovative solutions. Only those who think and act ambitiously can meet the challenges of the time,” explained LH Stelzer.

The festive evening, which was musically all about Anton Bruckner, was organized by the St. Florian Boys’ Choir under the direction of Markus Stumpner, Alois Mühlbacher and the ensemble “UNIverse” from the country’s Anton Bruckner Private University, in cooperation with the Spring String Quartet and Severin Trogbacher.

Numerous guests from all areas of Upper Austria’s social life took the opportunity to take a look at the exhibition “Bruckner’s Visions. How it all began”, which was officially opened during the ceremony.
