Walking and cycle path along the state road B 11 between Weissenbach an der Triesting and Neuhaus

Work has already started this year

St. Pölten (OTS) Work on the construction of the pedestrian and cycle path along the B 11 state road between Weissenbach an der Triesting and Neuhaus recently officially began. The market town of Weissenbach an der Triesting, in collaboration with the state of Lower Austria, is implementing this connecting cycle path, which largely runs along the Nöstachbach and the state road B 11. The cycle path connects to the existing Triesting-Gölsental cycle path in the area of the train station in Weissenbach an der Triesting and should end at the communication center in the area of the park in Neuhaus.

The walking and cycle path section in question represents the first section of the medium-term planned connection between the Triesting-Gölsental cycle path and the Helenental cycle path. The realization of this project will improve traffic safety for cyclists and pedestrians between the individual districts of Weissenbach and Neuhaus, which are connected via the B 11 state road, increased. This creates optimal accessibility from the Neuhaus district to the municipal office, which is located in Weissenbach an der Triesting. In addition, this should enable better connections to everyday and leisure facilities as well as better accessibility to the train station in Weissenbach an der Triesting.

The planned walking and cycling path begins in Weissenbach an der Triesting on the Lower Austrian main cycle route Triesting-Gölsental-Radweg, crosses the state road B 18 and a secondary road. The route continues over Dr. Suess Gasse towards the north and then runs along the Nöstachbach and along the state road B 11 north to the center of Neuhaus.

To cross the route over the Nöstachbach, four new cycle path bridges will be required. Furthermore, an existing road bridge over the Nöstachbach near Neuhaus will be adapted to the new conditions. From this existing bridge the path leads across the main square into Badgasse and ends in the community communication center in Neuhaus Park. The land necessary for the route was kindly made available by the landowners and leased or redeemed by the market town of Weissenbach an der Triesting.

The footpath and cycle path will be designed using an appropriate structural design with a width of up to 2.5 meters with a shoulder of up to 0.5 meters on both sides. The work for the approximately 1.3 kilometer new section will be carried out by the Pottenstein road maintenance department, the Alland bridge maintenance department and construction and delivery companies in the region. Completion is expected in autumn 2024. The total costs amount to around 800,000 euros, with 60 percent being borne by the state of Lower Austria (in combination with funding from klimaaktiv.mobil) and 40 percent by the market town of Weissenbach an der Triesting.
