Stein (ots) – The Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder visited Faber-Castell’s main factory in Stein at the invitation of the count’s family. He was received by the siblings Countesses Victoria and Sarah von Faber-Castell, Charles Graf von Faber-Castell and the company’s three-member board of directors, Stefan Leitz (Chairman), Simon Hauser (Head of Technology) and Constantin Neubeck (Head of Finance).
The traditional company, which has been producing pencils and colored pencils in Stein near Nuremberg for over 260 years, has been committed to producing in Germany for generations and has created a globally known brand through high levels of innovation and a quality promise “made in Germany”. The company, which has production facilities on almost all continents, sees its roots in the German locations in Stein and Geroldsgrün: “The success of domestic production is based on deep development and manufacturing know-how and is characterized by a clear commitment for social, environmentally conscious and fair action – corporate values that were used as a benchmark worldwide and were transferred to all global company headquarters at an early stage,” says Stefan Leitz, CEO.
“We are proud to be part of the German economy and to represent a piece of industrial culture,” emphasizes Countess Victoria von Faber-Castell. “Germany is of great importance for Faber-Castell not only because of its geographical location, but also because of its excellent infrastructure and qualified workforce. The visit of the Bavarian Prime Minister is an important sign of support for medium-sized family businesses like ours.”
During his visit, the Prime Minister was able to gain an insight into the production of wooden pencils and also see for himself the sustainability of the pencils produced here. Simon Hauser, Chief Technology Officer, led a tour of the plant: “Faber-Castell has always been an industry pioneer in sustainable development – for example with the use of environmentally friendly water-based paint or with the hydroelectric turbine, which has been in operation since the 1950s and generates renewable energy for local production. In Brazil Faber-Castell has been managing its own FSC-certified forests for a sustainable wood supply for more than 40 years – this is still unique in our industry.”
Dr. Söder thanked Faber-Castell for being “a shining example of a Bavarian family business.”
