Rendeavor expands high-speed internet access to communities around Tatu City, Kenya

Tatu City, Kenya (OTS/PRNewswire) Fahari Link, Tatu City’s new internet venture, is bridging the digital gap for thousands of residents

Rendeavour is Africa’s largest new city builder and the owner and developer of Tatu City, the 5,000 hectare new city just outside Nairobi. Now it has launched a new company to provide high-speed internet connections to thousands of digitally underserved residents in nearby cities and informal settlements.

The transformative initiative was announced at a ceremony presided over by Hon. Gina M. Raimondo, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, at the American Chamber of Commerce Economic Summit at the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in Nairobi.

In December 2022, US President Biden launched the Digital Transformation with Africa (DTA) initiative, committing $350 million to expand digital access and literacy across the African continent, given the population size projected for 2030 Of 1.7 billion people in Africa, doubling internet connections to 1 billion users is an important goal. Digital access is particularly important for women and girls who rely on the internet to continue their education, address health gaps and improve the overall quality of life for themselves and their families.

Fahari Link has invested heavily in acquiring wholesale bandwidth from global internet providers to expand its reach to areas outside Tatu City, including the informal communities of BTL, OJ and Rutoro. Ruiru, the sixth fastest growing city in Africa, is served as well as the communities of Oaklands, Murera, Kamakis and other parts of Kiambu County. In total, Fahari’s services will be accessible to almost a million people.
