Works meetings made the first agreement in the spring wage round possible
Vienna (OTS) – On April 22nd, the collective bargaining negotiations for the approximately 60,000 employees in the electrical and electronics industry (EEI) entered their third round. The PRO-GE and GPA unions were able to reach an agreement with the employers late on Monday evening. Collectively agreed wages and salaries rise by 7.5 percent. Actual wages and salaries will be increased by 6.8 percent. Apprentice incomes increase by 7.5 percent. Allowances and travel expense allowances also increase by 7.5 percent. The allowance for the second shift will be increased by 78 percent to one euro per hour.
“The sustainable wage and salary increases are a joint success of the works councils and employees. It was only through the works meetings that an agreement in this round and at this level was possible. They ensured the necessary movement on the employers’ side. We have gone from zero to 7 “Increased by 5 percent,” emphasize the two chief negotiators on the employee side, Reinhold Binder (PRO-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA), and point out that until this third round there was no offer from employers for wage and salary increases.
The collective bargaining partners also agreed on a qualification offensive. In the next few years, employees without relevant vocational training will be qualified as skilled workers.
The increases will apply from May 1, 2024. The KV agreement for EEI is the first agreement in this year’s industrial spring wage round. The collective bargaining negotiations for the chemical industry will enter their third round on April 23rd. The paper industry will enter the second round of KV on April 25th.
