50,000 pocket ashtrays from Imperial Brands are now available at selected Turmöl gas stations in Austria to reduce waste from cigarettes.
Vienna (OTS) – Vienna, April 12, 2024. Imperial Brands Austria Managing Director Alexander Ziesche and Walter Mazzulini, Head of Category Management Non-Fuel at Turmöl presented the joint sustainability initiative “Pocket Ashtray” at the Turmöl gas station at Altmannsdorfer Straße 150, 1230 Vienna.
Avoid waste and raise awareness for a clean environment in public spaces and in nature. These are the goals of the new initiative from Imperial Brands Austria and Turmöl. Heat-resistant, pocket-sized ashtrays are now available free of charge at selected gas stations in Austria. The aim is to counteract improperly disposed of waste – especially cigarettes – and to create awareness of correct disposal.
Environmental protection as a central concern
Tobacco companies are legally obliged by the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive to contribute to the costs incurred by the public sector due to the incorrect disposal of cigarette filter waste.
Imperial Brands Austria is therefore implementing the “Pocket Ashtray” initiative to prevent environmental pollution from carelessly disposed of cigarette butts (“littering”).
This campaign is intended to raise awareness among smokers of the topic at 70 Turmöl gas stations across Austria. The pocket ashtray gives you the opportunity to contribute to environmental protection with a very simple measure.
