Wiener shaped the media landscape for decades

Vienna (OTS) The renowned journalist, author and photographer Michael Horowitz “fell asleep peacefully and pain-free” today, Friday, at the age of 73. Vienna’s mayor Michael Ludwig: “The news of Michael Horowitz’s death touched me deeply.” With Horowitz, Ludwig said, an “important personality in the media industry” and a “shameful brother” had been lost.

City Councilor for Culture Veronica Kaup-Hasler: “Michael Horowitz was a ‘real Viennese’ with many talents. In addition to his formative work as a journalist and publisher, he will also be remembered as a photographer with a keen eye for the essentials. Horowitz, not only as a passionate singer and great lover of Viennese songs, but also as a biographer and author, often placed Vienna at the center of his work. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.”

Among other things, Horowitz was editor-in-chief of “KURIER Freizeit” for 25 years and during this time he shaped local media history, said Ludwig. The mayor of Vienna also highlighted Horowitz’s passion for photography and enjoyment. “He always had a feeling for the right moment.” Horowitz, for example, photographed icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol. His work also included numerous biographies and books about “Viennese originals”. In addition to other awards, Horowitz received the Golden Medal of Honor for services to the State of Vienna in 2007.

Michael Ludwig: “The Viennese and the newspaper readers will not forget Michael Horowitz. My condolences are with the bereaved.” (End) kri
