Unemployment rose in Austria in March by almost eleven percent to the rate of 6.9 percent. In the same month of 2023, this value was 6.2 percent. In a long-term comparison, the current situation is acceptable, as Labor and Economics Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) assessed. However, in a more short-term analysis, AMS boss Johannes Kopf spoke of a “particularly bad development”. The opposition blamed the turquoise-green government.
