Vienna (OTS/RK) – The local council committee for petitions met today, Friday, in the Vienna City Hall in a non-public meeting. Seven petitions were on the agenda.
The five petitions “For a lively nightlife in Vienna – protect clubs and music venues!”, “Save the Bauernfeldgasse kindergarten!”, “Against surface sealing in Simmering!”, “Traffic calming Obkirchergasse / Sonnbergmarkt (Döbling)” and “Bus instead of Bim – review The need to build a new tram line 12” was taken up again by the committee. The Petitions Committee decided to obtain statements from the responsible city councilors and their business groups as well as the affected district leaders and district representatives and other affected organizations, as well as to invite those who submitted the petitions to present their arguments to the committee.

The two petitions “New Federal Government Election” and “Save the Toboggan in the Prater” were not considered because they do not meet the requirements of the Vienna Petitions Act.
Petitions Committee since 2013
The Petitions Committee has existed since 2013. It is made up of local councilors from all parliamentary groups represented in the Vienna City Council. Regardless of their nationality, Viennese people who have reached the age of 16 have the opportunity to bring their concerns to the Petitions Committee. These will be discussed in the committee if there are 500 or more supporters. All petitions submitted so far are below www.petitionen.wien.gv.at available.
