Where Vienna tastes like New York

Classic dishes from Viennese cuisine reinterpreted

Vienna (OTS)

Fiaker goulash, onion roast or Kaiserschmarren, who doesn’t know them, the classics of Viennese cuisine? The burger restaurant Hawidere has now taken on these dishes and reinterpreted them.

“We experimented in our test kitchen for six months to put Viennese cuisine into a burger,” says Dominique Schilk, managing director and chef. “We didn’t just want to put schnitzel or Käsekrainer in a bun, we really wanted to redesign the burger patties.”

The patty of the Fiaker Burger is a wadschinken goulash that has been cooked for hours, essentially a pulled goulash, with the typical taste of roasted onions and peppers. It is served with a fried egg, grilled Frankfurter sausage and pickled gherkins in burger bread. The beef comes 100% from the Waldviertel and Styria.

Fast chicken and table bean burgers are served for vegetarians and vegans. We recommend a different beer brewed in Vienna to accompany each burger.

Those with a sweet tooth are not left out either: during the tastings, the Kaiserschmarren cheesecake with apricot roaster and dark chocolate sauce emerged as the clear test winner.
