“Instead of protecting the domestic labor market from even more migrant workers, Kocher prefers to open the gates even further.”
Vienna (OTS) – “ÖVP Labor Minister Kocher is just a neoliberal squadroner without a real and honest desire to shape things. His unrestricted immigration policy, among other things in the form of a weakening of the red-white-red card, the high inflation still caused by the ÖVP and the Greens, the ongoing increase in bankruptcies in our country as well as the very late and unsustainable construction offensive are the main causes these high unemployment figures. The ÖVP minister is once again trying to gloss over this negative development by only talking about ‘an economically challenging environment’,” criticized FPÖ social spokeswoman NAbg today. Dagmar Belakowitsch.
“In the first quarter there was an increase in corporate insolvencies compared to the same period last year by over 27 percent to 1,691 cases – that’s 19 company bankruptcies per day. In the last quarter of 2023 there were 1,450 bankruptcies, around 150 more than in the previous quarters of the previous year. The construction, retail and catering sectors with 8,200 employees are still particularly affected by this – there is nothing to counteract this negative development either,” emphasized Belakowitsch.
The FPÖ social spokeswoman strongly criticized Kocher, who, instead of protecting the domestic labor market from even more migrant workers, would rather open the gates even further by weakening the provisions of the red-white-red card even further and thus even more wanted to bring ‘skilled workers’ to Austria. “In a situation in which there is currently an increase in foreign unemployment of almost 22 percent, this is an irresponsible plan. Such an approach will not only further demolish social peace in Austria, but will also completely de-attract our business location,” Belakovich explained.
