Fields (OTS) – The Wörthersee Gravel Race, which will celebrate its premiere on April 7th, 2024, is enjoying unprecedented success. With an overwhelming number of over 1,000 registrations from cycling enthusiasts from 30 different nations, the race is becoming an outstanding event in the Wörthersee-Rosental region.
The organizers are enthusiastic about the euphoria that the Wörthersee Gravel Race has generated. The starting places for the “Beat Gralf” and “Catch Gralf” competitions are completely booked. In view of the high demand, a waiting list was introduced on which vacant places are allocated based on the lottery principle.
“The over 1,000 registrations not only show the growing popularity of gravel biking, but also underline the fascination and appeal of the Wörthersee Gravel Race. We are overwhelmed by the international participation and the positive response,” says Roland Sint, Managing Director of the Wörthersee Rosental region.
Despite the sold-out main events, there is still a way to take part in the event. Registration for the “Find Grail” competition on Saturday is still open and will enable the Carinthian population and all cycling enthusiasts to experience the beauty of the region. A unique opportunity to explore the Wörthersee Gravel Race route.
“We expect a spectacle of a special class. In addition to the numerous amateur athletes, we expect the strongest professional field that a UCI Gravel World Series Race has ever seen.” explains the race director of the Wörthersee Gravel Race Julius Rupitsch.
Johnny Hoogerland, co-initiator of the Wörthersee Gravel Race and reigning UCI Gravel World Champion, says: “It’s great to see how the Wörthersee Gravel Race is receiving so much enthusiasm and approval. It shows that we have our finger on the pulse with this event. I can hardly wait to get to the starting line and hope that there will be a lot of people cheering us on along the route.”
A visit to the Expo in Velden am Wörthersee with over 20 exhibitors also guarantees an experience. And race day also promises great things. Since the race takes place over three laps, spectators in Velden and along the track can expect pure excitement.

The Wörthersee Gravel Race, which takes place on April 7th, is part of the 2024 TREK UCI Gravel World Series calendar and a qualifying race for the 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships.
