Leading LNG terminals and downstream infrastructure company AG&P LNG, majority owned by Nebula Energy, today announced that its subsidiary PT AGP Indonesia Utama (AG&P Indonesia), together with consortium members Suasa Benua Sukses (SBS) and KPMOG, collectively referred to as the Consortium, has been awarded a substantial 20-year LNG infrastructure contract from PLN EPI in Indonesia. AG&P LNG was awarded the contract to jointly develop, own and operate LNG import terminal infrastructure and downstream logistics at seven locations in the Sulawesi-Maluku cluster in Indonesia. The customer and co-shareholder of this plant will be PT PLN Energi Primer (PLN EPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero) Indonesia.
AG&P Indonesia, together with the members of the consortium, will establish a joint venture (JV) with PLN EPI to assist in the planning, financing, construction, ownership and operation of all offshore and onshore infrastructure within the Sulawesi-Maluku Clusters LNG terminals to work together. This infrastructure includes the LNG carrier (LNGC), the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and several onshore regasification facilities. The aim is to supply seven power plants with a total output of 1,510 MW with LNG and natural gas.
Karthik Sathyamoorthy, Managing Director of AG&P LNG, said: “The LNG terminals project in the Sulawesi-Maluku cluster embodies Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to LNG-based power generation infrastructure and will support the country’s overall goal of reducing liquid fuel consumption in all areas clusters by around 1.7 million kiloliters per year. AG&P LNG is honored to partner with PLN EPI on this project of national significance, fostering a solid partnership for years to come.”
Mr. Rakhmad Dewanto, Director Gas and Fuel at PLN EPI, said: “PLN EPI, as the soul of gas/LNG supply for Indonesian power generation, is currently developing both the LNG supply portfolio and LNG midstream infrastructures for the Electricity sector. We are pleased about our joint venture with AG&P LNG and its consortium members. This partnership will be central to the development of LNG midstream infrastructure for power cluster projects in Indonesia, where the Sulawesi-Maluku cluster is the largest. PLN EPI will be responsible for the delivery of LNG from its portfolio and trusts that the members of the consortium will complete the project on time in the first half of 2026. This will be a milestone in our country’s continued transition to a more reliable and cleaner energy supply.”
Sam Abdalla, Managing Director of Nebula Energy and Vice Chairman of AG&P LNG, expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “We are very pleased to partner with PLN EPI and embark on the development of this large-scale infrastructure investment in Indonesia. Nebula Energy recently signed up as a technology provider for the Indonesian Center for Carbon Capture and Storage (ICCSC). These partnerships with ICCSC and PLN EPI are consistent with our company’s vision to promote sustainable energy development through global investment in clean energy infrastructure.”
AG&P LNG has an extensive growth pipeline with a total of 6 LNG terminals under development with a planned capacity of 25 MTPA across multiple international growth projects. As part of its LNG terminal project portfolio, AG&P LNG is the operator of the first LNG import and regasification terminal in the Philippines, the Philippines LNG (PHLNG) Import Terminal in Batangas Bay. Earlier this month, on March 7, AG&P LNG announced the acquisition of a 49% stake in Cai Mep, a US$500 million LNG import terminal with a capacity of 3 MTPA, expandable to 6 MTPA, and one of the the only two existing LNG terminals in Vietnam.
