“Mäcci’t happened”: Lived inclusion at McDonald’s Austria

Austria-wide TV campaign with spot in sign language

We see diversity in our teams as an absolute enrichment. It should go without saying that people with disabilities are offered the same opportunities and opportunities

Karin Probst, HR Director at McDonald’s Austria

Brunn am Gebirge (OTS) McDonald’s Austria is one of the largest employers in the local catering industry and, together with its 40 franchisees, has been promoting inclusion and integration in the workplace for many years. With a new Austria-wide TV campaign, which includes a TV spot in sign language, the system catering leader would like to help raise awareness and encourage more people with disabilities to apply for a job in a restaurant.

There are currently over 200 employees with disabilities working in local McDonald’s restaurants – there will be even more in the future. “We see diversity in our teams as an absolute enrichment. It should go without saying that people with disabilities are offered the same opportunities and possibilities.”so Karin ProbstHR Director at McDonald’s Austria, who primarily wants to use the campaign to raise awareness.

Diversity, respect and perspectives

Employees with disabilities work in a wide variety of areas at McDonald’s, from looking after the guest area to managing partial shifts, and receive comprehensive support in their everyday working lives, especially in the beginning. But in the long term, great importance is also placed on professional development. Like all employees at McDonald’s, they have the opportunity to take on new tasks and expand their specialist knowledge through internal training.

Future colleagues can apply through specialized associations that support people with disabilities and their professional inclusion and provide professional advice to companies, but also online via the McDonald’s website.
