The mayoral runoff elections on ORF Salzburg

Vienna (OTS) The municipal elections on March 10, 2024 made a mayoral runoff election necessary in 14 municipalities. 28 men and women are standing for election again in the city and state of Salzburg. The decision is awaited with particular excitement in the city of Salzburg, where either Bernhard Auinger from the SPÖ or Kay-Michael Dankl from the KPÖ PLUS – and thus a communist for the first time – will become the future mayor.

Duel in the state capital – “Lunchtime Special” on Radio Salzburg and can be heard on ORF SOUND

On March 21, 2024, Radio Salzburg will broadcast another special broadcast of “Mittagszeit Spezial” at 1 p.m., in which ORF editor-in-chief Gerd Schneider will meet the two top candidates for the mayoralty of the city of Salzburg – Bernhard Auinger and Kay-Michael Dankl – in the radio studio greets his guests.

Election day live on ORF Salzburg

ORF Salzburg will report on election day, Sunday, March 24th, on TV and radio with live broadcasts from Mirabell Palace in the state capital, where the decision will be followed with particularly great, including international, interest. A live connection to Graz is also planned, where Elke Kahr from the KPÖ has held the mayor’s office since November 2021. Reporters also report live from St. Johann im Pongau, Bad Gastein and Neumarkt am Wallersee. There, too, it will only be decided who will serve as mayor in the future.

First trends, results and analysis

The ORF Salzburg team will analyze the first election results and their effects live on TV on ORF Salzburg from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Portraits of the state capital’s two candidates are shown as well as current reactions. Political scientist Franz Fallend from Mirabell Palace provides a first live analysis of the runoff elections. Katharina Garzuly hosts the show.

At the same time, ORF Salzburg is broadcasting a special program on Radio Salzburg from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with live reports from Mirabell Palace, all results of the runoff elections and live analyzes in the radio studio by political scientist Armin Mühlböck.

Election day is also accompanied by detailed online election information with all results on salzburg.orf.at as well as on Instagram and Facebook. Check it out and listen to it in the ORF-TVThek and on ORF SOUND.

Citizens also have their say about their expectations and wishes for the new municipal councils.
