Statement from UNICEF Austria Managing Director, Christoph Jünger, on the resolution of the EU Supply Chain Act
Vienna (OTS) – “From a child rights and human rights perspective, we see the adoption of the EU Supply Chain Act as an urgently needed step to effectively protect children worldwide from economic exploitation and negative impacts on their well-being and development.
In our view, the recognition of children’s rights by companies is particularly important. Respecting children’s rights is the basis for every company to be truly sustainable. However, children are often invisible in duty of care and supply chain law can change this.
Based on our experience in working with companies in the area of children’s rights, we are convinced that the requirements placed on companies by the EU directive are feasible and will have a positive impact on the environment and the realization of human rights. A big step for children and their rights worldwide.”
