Charming X-Mas comedy about patchwork chaos during Advent
Vienna (OTS) – Christmas is coming soon! But for the first time there will be no Christmas together for the 13-member patchwork family, because since their grandma died, no one has been able to peacefully gather the seven adults and their six children in one place. And so the parents make new plans – but without counting on their kids’ persistence and assertiveness! Because they decide “Family can never be big enough” and start the “Christmas adventure” – on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. on ORF 1. In the ORF premiere of the turbulent ORF/ARD Christmas comedy, for which Mirjam Unger (“Days That Didn’t Exist”) sat down in the director’s chair, the Austrians play: Juergen Maurer, Manuel Rubey with daughter Luise, Liam Noori, Inge Maux and Martin Leutgeb – they stood together with Maria Furtwängler, Dennenesch Zoudé, Leo Reisinger, Sarah Bauerett, Pegah Ferydoni, Salome Manyak, Elias Schneider, Lotta Herzog and Finjen Kiefer in front of the camera. Filming took place in February and March 2023 in Tyrol and Vienna based on a script by Martin Rauhaus.

Eight-year-old Nina (Lotta Herzog) loves Christmas! Since her stepfather Jerry (Juergen Maurer) has not only contributed his ex-wives (Maria Furtwängler, Pegah Ferydoni) and their new partner (Manuel Rubey, Dennenesch Zoudé), but also five “siblings”, it has been the most beautiful , when her 13-member patchwork family celebrates together – like last year, when her grandma (Inge Maux) was still alive.
Things are looking less contemplative for the approaching holiday, as the adults’ pre-Christmas meeting ends in an argument – even with a bloody nose. When Jerry suggests flying to the Maldives with Nina and her 16-year-old brother Jeremy (Liam Noori) for the holidays, the children come up with a plan: In order to be together, all six of them leave unnoticed. Equipped with Jerry’s credit cards, they head to a secret location in a good mood. The quarreling parents not only begin a desperate search for their children, but also think about why they would rather celebrate among themselves and without the adults.
