Social Ship: wienwork sets sail with the DDSG Blue Danube – BILD

150 apprentices and young people from various projects of the non-profit social economy company spent a morning on board the MS Blue Danube on International Women’s Day.

Vienna (OTS/LCG) – With the takeover of two new ships, Austria’s largest and most traditional inland shipping company is not only expanding its fleet. To celebrate Wien Holding’s 50th anniversary, DDSG Blue Danube, a company owned by Wien Holding and VERKEHRSBUERO, is also increasing its community and social commitment under the title “Social Ship”. The DDSG Blue Danube managing directors invited people on Friday morning Wolfgang Hanreich and Wolfgang Fischer 150 apprentices and young people with disadvantages accompanied by the wienwork managing director Christoph Parak as well as the department heads Roman Bishop (Including professional training) and Ingrid Schnötzinger (Job Management) on the MS Blue Danube, which was launched in 1990, to take a little break from stress and everyday worries for a morning and to experience the Danube in a new way.

All wienwork apprentices have a pronounced learning disability, language or physical impairments, a hearing impairment or a psychological impairment. The young project participants who also checked in on board the MS Danube today are part of a three-year qualification project (“On the Job”) or the training fit project “Flanke Wien” at wienwork and have a significant learning disability or are not currently in training or employment.

Under the command of Captain Zoltan Papp The courteous crew gave the guests of the inclusive Viennese flagship company an insight into everyday nautical life and gave them a look behind the scenes of river shipping. The visit to the bridge offered the wienwork young people and their companions – from trainers, coaches and educators to social workers – an exciting change of perspective and a completely different view of the federal capital. After the eventful city cruise, the on-board catering served guests freshly prepared refreshments and snacks for a culinary-enriched start to the weekend. As part of the adventure trip, the DDSG Blue Danube presented itself as the only training company in Austria where trainees can obtain a captain’s license. With the recent fleet expansion, the shipping company will be offering even more apprenticeships and varied and unique training in the future.
