Full of thanks, Fulbright Austria is celebrating “Thank Fulbright – Thanksgiving” for the seventh time

Vienna (OTS) On the evening of “Giving Tuesday” — November 28, 2023 — Fulbright Austria celebrated the traditional “Thank Fulbright – Thanksgiving” festivities in the Waldviertlerhof in the Waldviertlerhof with over 70 program participants, alumnae and alumni as well as institutional partners Vienna. The annual fundraising initiative was all about gratitude and community.

For more than seven decades, Fulbright Austria has been sending students, researchers, teachers, artists, specialists and foreign language assistants as cultural ambassadors to the USA and Austria. At this year’s Thanksgiving dinner with our current US program participants, our alumnae and alumni reminisced about this valuable and life-changing experience and shared their very personal stories.

“Thank Fulbright – Thanksgiving” brings together generations of US and Austrian program participants every year. Even first-generation program participants (1951/52) can’t miss the ‘Thank Fulbright – Thanksgiving’ celebrations,” emphasizes Executive Director Hermann Agis.

This year it was a very special honor for Fulbright Austria to welcome Vito Cecere, the German ambassador to Austria, to the celebrations. The former co-chair of the German Fulbright Commission has a special connection to the Fulbright program.

The Thanksgiving celebrations were accompanied virtually by speeches by US Ambassador Victoria Reggie Kennedy, Federal Minister Martin Polaschek, Executive Director Hermann Agis, the board and team members as well as the “12 Days of Giving Thanks” campaign on Fulbright Austria’s social media channels.

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) supports Fulbright Austria’s fundraising initiative to strengthen the program by doubling every donation with “matching funds” up to €150,000. Fulbright Austria and generations of future program participants are full of thanks for the significant support that Austrian and US alumnae and alumni have once again provided through donations this year.

Every single donation creates opportunities for future generations of “Bright Minds”. For everyone who wants to support Fulbright Austria’s vision, Fulbright Austria offers many opportunities to make their contribution. You can find out more about this at https://www.fulbright.at
