Shortly after the guilty verdict

What does the guilty verdict in the first instance mean for former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz? The proceedings for false witness statements are entering the next round and the investigation into the advertisement affair has not yet been completed. What strategy is the former Chancellor pursuing and what does the guilty verdict mean for the ÖVP? A report by Stefan Daubrawa, Martin Pusch and Alexander Sattmann.

Live in the studio: the former SPÖ Justice Minister Maria Berger, who was also a judge at the European Court of Justice for ten years, and the former spokesman for the Prosecutors’ Association, Gerhard Jarosch.

Internet without hate – is that possible?

Insults, threats, calls for violence. Every day people experience hate online, either as witnesses or as those affected. From now on, online services in the EU could become safer and more transparent. The European Digital Services Act is intended to ensure this; it has been fully applicable in all EU countries since February 17th. Online providers and social media platforms will be given greater responsibility to take action against hate speech and disinformation, and it will now also be easier for those affected to defend themselves against hate online. But is the law enough to make the Internet less hate-free? What can or must we as a society contribute to this? And how dangerous is the current situation for our democracy? Laura Franz did some research.

Nursing staff from overseas

There will be a shortage of 200,000 nursing staff in Austria by 2050. That’s why a real race has broken out in the federal states to recruit people willing to care overseas. While the Minister of Social Affairs and Health is calling for a common European strategy, the train has long since left, says Josef Missethon, head of the “Talent & Care” agency – every state is next to itself. He places trained nurses from Colombia at the Innsbruck and Salzburg clinics. Sabina Riedl reports.
