Viva Spain!  “Golden Note by Leona König” goes to Spain

Winners can expect concerts in the opera house in València and Santiago de Compostela – applications open until March 17th, final on ORF 2 on May 31st

Vienna (OTS) “I am very happy to be able to present Austrian classical music talents abroad for the first time!” says Leona König, the initiator and presenter of the “Golden Note” music promotion award held on ORF, about a successful artistic coup. The classical music lover and chairwoman of the International Music Association for the Promotion of Gifted Children (IMF), which she founded and which has been organizing the “Golden Note” since 2017 and thus supporting the country’s young classical musicians, has managed to organize two concerts for winners of the “Golden Note”. In collaboration with Simón Ibáñez, clarinetist and professor at the Vienna Academy of Music, König organizes performances in two renowned houses: in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía opera and concert hall in València, known for its top-class performances as well as for its futuristic architecture by Santiago Calatrava and in the Auditorio de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela, headquarters of the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia. The latter is scheduled for the end of the year – November or December 2024. The second “Golden Note” Spain concert for the winners in València is scheduled for the 2024/25 season.

“I am very pleased to be able to bring together talented children and young people with great orchestras beyond the borders of Austria,” enthuses Leona König. “The Opera House in Valencia is one of the most impressive musical institutions in the world and therefore a fantastic stage for the talents of the ‘Golden Note’. It’s great that our young artists can now gain international concert experience. Young musicians who receive their training in this country will further strengthen Austria’s reputation as the number 1 classical music nation through such opportunities,” said König.

Interested musicians up to the age of 18 can still register

The application deadline for participation in the “Golden Note 2024” is still running, the finale of which will be shown in the form of a glittering TV gala on May 31st on ORF 2. This year, young talents from the partially expanded three genres of keyboard instruments, wind instruments and string and plucked instruments are invited to take part. Interested musicians up to the age of 18 can register for the audition taking place on April 6th in Vienna’s Ehrbar Saal by March 17th, 2024 at the latest. A total of 18 applicants will be admitted to audition in front of an expert jury, which will select the nine best artists for the grand finale of the “Golden Note 2024”. The winners have the chance to take part in the Spain concerts. The semifinals, the summary of the audition, will be shown on ORF 2 on May 20th. All details about the participation criteria are below
