Vienna (OTS) –
- Viennese start-up LAVIS with digital solutions for old problems
- Networked washing machines make life easier for operators and users
Waiting for a free washing machine in gloomy laundry rooms and arguing about washing times are a thing of the past if a Viennese start-up has its way. LAVIS has developed a concept for shared laundry rooms in apartment buildings, student dormitories, serviced apartments, rehabilitation clinics, hostels and the like and supports their operators and users with powerful washing machines, maintains them and manages the processes and payment processes via an app.
Shared washrooms are becoming increasingly important due to the growing number of smaller residential units and single apartments. This form of shared “laundry room” is also common in student accommodation, serviced apartments, co-living or hostels. Now the Viennese start-up LAVIS has developed user-friendly solutions for such shared washrooms. They are intended to fundamentally simplify handling for property managers and users and improve convenience.
„With LAVIS, the comfort of modern smart homes moves into the laundry lounges. In addition to the residents, the property managers also benefit from our innovation because work processes are eliminated for them and the smooth functioning of the machines is guaranteed.
“says Gregor Sampson, founder and CEO of LAVIS.
Full-service solution in shared washrooms
As part of a “Machine-as-a-Service” solution, LAVIS provides operators with networked devices and ongoing service for an annual rental fee. Users can reserve a device and pay the washing fees from the comfort of their own home using the LAVIS app. You will receive a notification when the washing process is complete.
The intelligently networked washing machines also communicate with the LAVIS team, which responds promptly to error messages and abnormalities. With this remote maintenance and predictive maintenance, the devices remain operational at all times.
LAVIS CEO Gregor Sampson also points out the aspect of sustainability: „In shared washrooms, an average of ten people share a machine instead of buying their own. It is obvious that this saves raw materials and emissions
“.

- Washing machine reservation from the comfort of your own home

LAVIS locations
LAVIS has, among other things, already equipped several Kolping houses and student hostels run by the operator STUWO. In Linz, the Julius Raab Heim, one of the largest student residences in Austria, was equipped. Eight machines are in use in “Viennabase 11”, a student residence with 300 places. In the “Porzellaneum”, a mixed business consisting of a student residence and a hostel in the 9th district, LAVIS uses devices with particularly advanced connectivity.
The young company has already successfully carried out 80,000 washing programs for a total of 3,500 users using the LAVIS app. The first cloud terminal has recently been launched that accepts credit cards, smart watches and many other payment options. This is particularly practical for short-term stays or for residents who do not have a smartphone.
