Hamburg (ots) – The owner-managed family office Lennertz & Co. has been granted permission to operate as a capital management company (KVG) by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin). In the future, business operations will be bundled with alternative investments at Lennertz & Co. Capital GmbH.
“With the full license, we do justice to the development of the in-house alternative investment platform and clear the way for further strategic growth,” says founder and managing partner Philipp Lennertz. “We remain true to our essence of providing our family office clients as well as other single family offices, foundations and pension funds with access to the best fund managers from private equity, venture capital and blockchain venture in Europe and the USA.” Overall, Lennertz & Co. sees a return to momentum in the private equity market in 2024 and therefore a number of good investment opportunities, also because valuations are currently moderate.
In addition to Philipp Lennertz, Christian Piper will also be appointed to the management of Lennertz & Co. Capital GmbH. Their supervisory board (AR) also consists of the well-known industry and private equity experts Prof. Dr. Klaus Trützschler (Chairman of the Supervisory Board; former CFO Franz Haniel & Cie., AR Deutsche Bank), Prof. Dr. Klaus Wucherer (former Siemens board member, AR Infineon and SAP) and Prof. Dr. Heinrich von Pierer (former CEO Siemens, AR Deutsche Bank and Berenberg Bank).
The 50-year-old Piper moved to Lennertz & Co. in November 2023 and in his future role will be responsible for risk management and all regulatory issues on the platform. “With the new hire, we are supplementing our team and the company in a crucial area,” says Philipp Lennertz. “We are pleased to have found a personality in Christian Piper who has a lot of family office experience as well as know-how in alternative investments and their risk management – a rare and extremely valuable combination.”
Piper is moving from a medium-sized project developer to Lennertz & Co. As Chief Investment Officer (CIO), he was responsible for the purchases and sales of real estate properties as well as their financial structuring since August 2020. He previously worked for a wealthy family in their single family office for a good year and worked at the multi-family office Kontora from 2011 to 2019, including as a member of the extended management team and central risk manager.
