Service point as market surveillance of AI
Vienna (OTS) – “The development and application of artificial intelligence are crucial factors for technological progress and therefore prosperity in Austria. “It is essential to find a balance between promoting innovation and appropriate regulation,” says Süleyman Zorba, digitization spokesman for the Greens, welcoming the AI service point, the establishment of which was decided at today’s National Council meeting.
“With the increasing use of artificial intelligence, we are also paying attention to data protection and consumer rights in this area,” emphasizes Zorba.
The low-threshold application options not only lead to the everyday use of artificial intelligence, but also enable misuse of the technology: “Deep fakes and fake news are easily created with AI tools. There are always cases in which, for example, depictions of abuse created by AI, especially of women, are spread on the Internet against their will. There is a need for a central contact point for citizens about artificial intelligence. The service point will not only provide advice to politicians and companies, but will also provide specialist information for citizens and take over the certification and market monitoring of AI applications,” explains Zorba.
