Sucher, Scherwitzl: This insight should now also be followed by action by the WKK – an invitation to jointly examine the legal framework
Klagenfurt (OTS) – SPÖ state managing director Andreas Sucher and third state parliament president Andreas Scherwitzl are pleased with the WKK’s obvious insight that the implementation of company kindergartens in Carinthia makes sense. “When WKK Vice President Astrid Legner explains that ‘the balance of family and work has developed into a key social issue’ that ‘can no longer be ignored’, then Legner is addressing exactly the point we are concerned about: company kindergartens would significantly improve the compatibility of family and work,” said Sucher and Scherwitzl.
Sucher: “I hope that the willingness of the WKK, which is at least partially apparent, to do something in the direction of company childcare will finally be followed by action. It would be desirable for the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce to follow Tyrol’s example, take its head out of the sand and set up its own service point and guidelines for the implementation of company kindergartens.
Andreas Scherwitzl expressly repeats the invitation to the WKK to “jointly examine the legal framework for company kindergartens”. And Scherwitzl emphasizes: “Always pointing the finger at others, the tax payers, and always demanding from others is definitely not enough.” In this context, Scherwitzl refers to Legner’s statement that the WKK has been providing better childcare for years would demand – especially because part-time employment is increasing so much. “Then I ask myself why the WKK has remained so inactive and has not taken any measures to improve the situation. It would be time for the WKK to rethink its motto ‘The others will sort it out’ and accept our outstretched hand.
