“If a symbolic connection like the direct ÖBB-Railjet from Vienna is set to Bolzano for permanent delays and failures, this is not only a traffic-political poverty certificate, but also a bitter setback for the overall title in this supposedly boundless Europe,” said Christofer Ranzmaier, FPÖ-Südtirol Prosecutor and member of the South Tyrolean State government not to extend the contract with the ÖBB beyond 2026.
“While Sunday speeches are kept about cross -border cooperation, European region and the turnaround in traffic, one now fails in practice due to the punctuality of a train. The fact that South Tyrol is now saying goodbye to this connection. South Tyrol is bypassing, ”says Ranzmaier.
The freedom-related MP criticized the Ministry of Transport: “The connection between North and South Tyrol would not only have been an infrastructural bridge, but also a political signal- with the Railjet, the connecting one has literally put the connecting on the track and, on this question, the injustice limit on the Brenner was also actively eliminated.”
FPÖ-Südtirol spokesman Ranzmaier finally announced a parliamentary request to SPÖ Transport Minister Hanke in order to document the reasons for the literal derailment of this direct connection between Bozen and Vienna and to explore how often there were delays and failures, what causes were based-and why all of this was obviously not sufficient, so to secure south of the injustice limit to maintain this connection.
