The Federal Government has agreed on a comprehensive package of measures for the future design of the truck toll. This improves the cost truth in road traffic, ecological steering effects are increased and the financing of the street infrastructure is secured in the long term. At the same time, the transport industry receives more planning security when switching to e-trucks.
Minister Minister Peter Hanke: “I welcome the agreement that was found today-with the toll package, we create more cost truth in road traffic, better planning security for the transport industry when switching to e-trucks and at the same time put the financing of the infrastructure on sustainable legs. Co2 emissions.
More cost truth in road traffic
A central element is the increased attachment of external costs for air pollution, noise pollution and CO2 emissions for heavy vehicles of 42 million euros. This means that the actual loads by road traffic are mapped more transparently and distributed in line with the cause. Against the background of the challenging economic situation, the tariffs are not valorized for the attachment of infrastructure costs for 2026. The steering effect of the CO2 tariffs remains unaffected.
Planning security for the transport industry
There is an important innovation for the transport industry and the logistics sector: the discount regulation for emission -free vehicles over 3.5 tons, currently 75 percent, is now clearly regulated by 2030. This gives companies a reliable framework for investing in a climate -friendly vehicle fleet. The Ministry of Mobility supports the fleet switch to emission-free truck this year with around 80 million euros as part of the “Emove Austria” e-mobility program.
The prices for vignettes (vehicles up to 3.5 tons) are still adapted to inflation annually. For the vignette year 2026, this means an adjustment by 2.9 percent. The sustainable financing of the high -ranking road network by ASFINAG remains secured.
