The Austrian association for the gas and water subject (ÖVGW) is the only independent and voluntary advocacy for the Austrian drinking water suppliers. It is over 303 companies from the water sector as its members. The ÖVGW represents more than 2,000 water suppliers through cooperation with state associations. These supply around 80% of the centrally supplied population with drinking water. The Austrian drinking water is obtained 100 % of groundwater (fountains and sources), which largely does not have to be prepared.
