Astrid Peterle will be the new chief curator of the great cultural area

Vienna (OTS) –

The museum quarters are pleased that Astrid Peterle will take over the curatorial management in the museum district on October 1, 2025 and thus replace Verena Kaspar-Eisert, who will take up her next professional task as director of Heidi Horten Collection.

Astrid Peterle, an experienced curator and author, is very familiar with the museum district: since June 2022 she has headed the curatorial department of the Kunsthalle Vienna. Previously, from 2010 to 2022 she was curator at the Jewish Museum of Vienna, most recently as chief curator. Her exhibitions and contributions to contemporary art and Viennese cultural history focus on performance art, choreography, film, photography and feminist art practice.

Bettina Leidl, director of the MQ: “We are very happy to have won Astrid Peterle as an experienced exhibition curator for the art station. It is perfectly suitable to further develop art projects and artistic practices in the MQ. I am really looking forward to working with her.

I warmly congratulate Verena Kaspar-eisert on her deserved career step. In our over ten years of cooperation – which started in 2014 in the Kunst Haus Vienna – we were not only able to successfully implement great exhibition projects. The joint passion to bring people closer to people using art and culture and to inspire them for new perspectives also enriched our cooperation. I wish Verena Kaspar-Eisert good luck and great years as director of the Heidi Horten Collection.
