Private financing is an essential pillar for the necessary investments in biodiversity and climate change adjustment. At the European Forum Alpbach, the Minister of Environment and Climate, Norbert Taptschnig on Wednesday afternoon, discussed with Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg CEO Michael Alge, the climate economist Sigrid Stagl and the head of the European Investment Bank in Austria, Frank Schuster, how investments in biodiversity and climate change adjustment can be increasingly mobilized.
“In the public sector we have already launched the first important initiatives, for example with the Austrian Green Finance Agenda, the Green Finance Alliance or the first Green Bond Austria, which specifically provides funds for biodiversity and climate change adjustment measures. With experts as well as the private sector and the financial sector, because in addition to innovative business models, reliable political framework and thus predictability are crucial for the companies ”confirmed Norbert Tettschnig.
“In the sustainability strategy of the Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg, both climate and commitment goals are firmly anchored. We are currently working on making a biodiversity analysis of our portfolios. In addition to climate protection, the preservation of biological diversity should also be taken into account. As a member of the Green Finance Alliance, we receive a lot of input and support for this topic”explains Michael Alge, CEO of the Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg.
The session at the Forum Alpbach shows: The protection of biodiversity and the adaptation to climate change have long been not a border issue, but a central economic factor. In order to effectively design the transformation in width, well -thought -out partnerships between politics, financial sector and real economy must be reinforced.
