The start of the season was successful in FC Bayern. A lack of time for talents

The right balance

As a result, hardly any young players came to the train. Kompany prefers to trust the established forces so far-even out of fear of criticism, if the young players cannot perform the same performance: “If they play badly, I am alone with the boys,” said the Bayern coach after the Supercup.

This year, Kompany has to act differently, the squad has finally shrunk again: “It is probably one of the smallest squads I have ever played in,” said striker Harry Kane recently-rightly so: At the league start on Friday, only four experienced field players were sitting on Bavaria’s bench.

The few established people who are still there cannot appear in every game. After the club World Cup in summer, the players only had three weeks off to relax before they had to go back to training. The new season will drag on their strength. At the same time, young players like Karl or 18-year-old Swede Jonah Kusi-Asare have to get used to the level so that they become serious alternatives. The cup game against the third division team from Wiesbaden is ideal for this.

So can the top players rest immediately? “It is not yet a matter of protecting players,” said Kompany at the press conference before the game, but also expressed concerns whether his players were already able to play three games in a week. “We have to make sure that our players stay fit,” he says. But: »We want to go to the final in Berlin. For that we have to win tomorrow. It will start a team that we think that the game can win. ”So a small rotation in the line -up seems to be imaginable – although Bayern have been extremely difficult in the cup in recent years.

Wiesbaden can “afford”
