ÖVP parliamentary club mourns the loss of Heinrich Neisser

“The parliamentary club of the Austrian People’s Party mourns the loss of a member of MPs, club chairman, second National Council President and Federal Minister and State Secretary for decades,” says ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger on the occasion of Heinrich Neisser’s death.

Neisser’s political career goes back to the late 1960s. Politically, the years as a consultant and later State Secretary in the cabinet of Chancellor Josef Klaus between 1966 and 1970. After his work as a state secretary in the Federal Chancellery, 1969 to 1975 to 1987, a member of the Federal Minister in the Federal Chancellery or for federalism and administrative reform in the Federal Chancellery. After that, Neisser was again a member of 1989 to 1999, including 1990 to 1994 club chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary club and from 1994 to 1999 the second president of the National Council.

“The strengthening of Parliament as the initiator of reforms was a central concern for him. In addition to his enthusiasm for parliamentarianism, Heinrich Neisser’s second major topic was European integration. After leaving the 1999, he continued to scientifically dealt with topics of European integration at the University of Innsbruck,” said Wöginger.

“Heinrich Neisser was a politically and scientifically brilliant thinker with a great analytical understanding, which was also valued for his dry humor. For his services, he was awarded the great silver honorary sign with the star for the Republic of Austria.”
