Heinrich Neisser shaped Austrian and European politics for decades. As a long -time president of the European Movement Austria (EBÖ), he was a central voice for a united, democratic and solidarity Europe. Together with his EBÖ general secretary Daniel Gerer, he significantly designed the work of the European movement and European civil society in Austria for two decades and set sustainable impulses for European integration and dialogue.
Neisser was not only an outstanding political scientist and parliamentarian, but also a passionate European who was always looking for dialogue between the generations. His commitment to European values, democracy and the rule of law was tireless.
He also leaves a lasting track within the Bej: for many years he worked as a board member, accompanieding the work of young people with advice, experience, great openness and warmth. Later he became a Bej Honorary Chairman, a recognition for his decades of voluntary work. Numerous seminars, lectures and European educational projects of the Bej wore his handwriting, and he has supported countless EU projects and campaigns of the Bej for years.
“Heinrich Neisser was a bridge builder between politics and civil society, between the generations and across national borders. He has encouraged countless young people to work for Europe. His tireless commitment to democracy, dialogue and a united Europe remains inspiration and model,” emphasizes Bej federal chairman Ella Walzer.
With Heinrich Neisser, Europe loses a great European federal brace, Austria a formative political personality and the Bej a long -time companion, friend and mentor.
