Oekostrom AG starts AGRI PV hybrid power plant in Parndorf

Oekostrom AG, the German Energy Cooperative Green Planet Energy eG and Stadtwerke Hartberg set the groundbreaking for one of the most innovative energy projects in Austria: In Parndorf from Burgenland, a photovoltaic system is created that enables agricultural use and connected to the infrastructure of an existing wind farm. With an output of 17 MWP, the system will supply around 6,320 households with a clean, regionally generated electricity from January 2026.

What is special about this showcase project is the combination of several technologies: photovoltaics for renewable electricity generation, agricultural use and a modern battery storage that ensures that renewable energy is available when it is needed. The system is connected to the neighboring Parndorf wind farm of Oekostrom AG and optimally uses the synergies with infrastructure and land use. In addition, the AGRI PV enables a double use of valuable areas. The maintenance of the green areas between the solar modules will take over sheep in the future – an ecologically thought -out approach to promote biodiversity. The wind farm will be implemented by Oekostrom AG, the German Energy Cooperative Green Planet Energy eG and the Hartberg Stadtwerke.

“This project is a real milestone. It shows how we can combine renewable energies technologically, ecologically and economically sensibly. With this hybrid system, Oekostrom AG creates security and regional added value in the best sense,” emphasizes Jan Häupler, board member of Oekostrom AG. Christoph Grosssteiner, Managing Director of Oekostrom Produktions GmbH adds: “Hybrid power plants are considered particularly promising because wind and sun current complement each other well- with little sun, a lot of wind often blows up and vice versa.”

Julian Tiencken, Managing Director of Green Planet Projects: “The special design with the sun enables the photovoltaic modules that the production profile is optimized and fits better. This is particularly important in times of increasing negative electricity prices through solar tips. We also want pragmatism in Germany. “

Christoph Ehrenhöfer, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Hartberg, adds: “With Oekostrom AG, we claim to make energy future responsibly. An absolute showcase project with great multiple use and complementary energy production in the course of the day and year.”

The energy of the future is growing in Parndorf

Governor Burgenland Hans Peter Doskozil: “In Burgenland, we are proud that we are tackling and implementing in the question of renewable energies. We have been the flagship in wind energy for over 25 years and we are currently in the rooftops, the surfaces, the surfaces and ideally as with this system as an agri photovoltaic in combination with sustainable, ecological Agriculture.

State Councilor Daniela Winkler: “With this AGRI PV system in Parndorf, we are using another milestone on our way to climate neutrality until 2030. We use our areas intelligently, produce clean electricity and increase the energy independence of the Burgenland. We can already cover 70 % of the energy needs on our own generation-and we are getting even stronger. This is lived energy transition in Burgenland.”

Mayor Wolfgang Kovacs: “Parndorf has stood for future -oriented regional development and this project seamlessly joins this strategy. It combines climate protection, innovation and agricultural use in an exemplary manner. I am particularly pleased that our community is doing well with an example and actively contributes to the energy transition.”

“Especially with a pioneering project like this, strong partners and close coordination at all levels, from the community to technology to agriculture. The good cooperation here in Parndorf shows how much is possible if everyone pulls together,” says Peter Kuntner, project developer PV at Oekostrom AG.

Oekostrom AG – for a clean energy future

As a pioneer, Oekostrom AG has been driving the change towards a clean energy future as a pioneer for 25 years. Founded in 1999 from the anti-atomic and climate protection movement, it is now the largest independent energy service provider in Austria with over 3,100 shareholders. Oekostrom AG delivers 100 % clean electricity from wind, sun and water – from domestic power plants, more than 2,000 solar energy systems of their customers: inside and their own wind turbines. Oekostrom AG stands for transparent, partnership and fair energy supply in Austria.

About the Green Planet Energy eG:
The energy cooperative Green Planet Energy eG, founded in 1999 by Greenpeace, belongs to its more than 47,000 members and provides around 200,000 households and business customers: inside with innovative green electricity and gas products. Green Planet Energy relies on power generation from 100 percent renewable energies: the cooperative operates wind and solar parks as well as electrolysers for the production of green hydrogen (wind gas) and only obtains electricity from direct delivery contracts- guaranteed without coal or atomic current. Green Planet Energy supports customers: Interior, companies and municipalities during their energy transition – from their own heat pump to PV systems and tenant power projects to municipal heat planning. As a non -profit -maximizing cooperative, Green Planet Energy is also politically committed to a socially just energy transition. green-planet-energy.de
