42 children with and without special needs sniff (for the first time) sea air. They started today from Wiener Neustadt towards Adria. The 7- to 13-year-olds spend wonderful holidays together on the Slovenian coast. Thanks to the many donors and sponsors, participation for children from people affected by poverty and threatened families is free.
“Not all children are able to go on vacation. There are many reasons for this, often there are financial or physical challenges,” said Volkshilfe President Prof. Ewald Sacher, “that’s why we have been organizing the integrative children’s holidays since 1995. Children are going on vacation together and spend carefree days in the community.”
“A special thank you goes to the many donors and sponsors who support the Volkshilfe holidays financially,” explains Managing Director Gregor Tomschizek, “so we were able to take over the participation costs of people affected and at risk this year.”
Sonenda, fun, fun and sea, the Volkshilfe Lower Austria offers from 21 to 30 July 2025 for children from 7 to 13 years with and without special needs. The holiday complex in Ankaran in Sloven is accessible to children and disabled and has an in-house beach and a large sea water pool.
The 18 supervisors were carefully selected and have social pedagogical experience and are trained in dealing with children with special needs. They ensure that the children are looked after according to their needs and create a program that is appealing to all children.
