Press interview by the EU special committee on the living space crisis in Vienna

Vienna (OTS) –

Six MEPs of the Visit special committee for the living space crisis from July 21 to 23 in Vienna, To get over Innovative approaches in social housing to inform and get a comprehensive picture of the city’s residential policy. Vienna occupies a special position with over 60 % publicly funded living space. Vienna’s experiences and concepts should provide impulses for solutions to the living space crisis in the entire EU.

Background:

The delegation consists of six MPs from various factions, including committee chairwoman Irene Tinagli (S&D, IT), coordinator Andreas Schieder (S&D, AT) and rapporteur Borja Genneez Larraz (ES). The program provides for the inspection of best practice models such as the Nordbahnviertel or the Seestadt Aspern as well as meetings with Vice Chancellor Babler, representatives: inside of the city of Vienna, the National Council, non -profit construction associations, social partners, federal ministries and civil society.

The special committee for the living space crisis in the European Parliament was used on January 30, 2025. It is intended to develop solutions for crumporary, sustainable and affordable living for all citizens: inside the EU. The committee analyzes living needs and housing policy in the EU and is actively involved in the development of future European action plan for affordable living.
