With great dismay, municipal council Karl Mahrer, cultural spokesman for the Vienna People’s Party, reacted to the early death of soprano Beate Ritter:
“With Beate Ritter, the Austrian cultural scene loses an exceptionally versatile artist. Her virtuosity, stage presence and versatility made you a crowd favorite and one of the most sought -after artists far beyond Austria.”
Beate Ritter was born in Grieskirchen in 1983, grew up in St. Georgen and received her training at the University of Music and Performing Art Vienna and at the Vienna Conservatory. She made her debut in 2009 at the Theater an der Vienna in Claude Debussys Pelléas Et Mélisande, in the same year she was awarded the first prize and the audience award. In almost 300 performances, from 2010 to 2018, she delighted the audience as a member of the ensemble and shone, among other things, as a queen of the night in the sorcerer and as a nobility in the bat.
“Beate Ritter convinced with technical brilliance, stylistic diversity and a large repertoire that spans the entire range of classical music. Her early death is a painful loss for the cultural landscape. Our sympathy applies to her family, friends and companions,” says Mahrer.
