For the first time in Vienna, Steva Diva is presenting an American-style DJ contest – with CounTessa and Catrice Liberty providing hot beats at the desk
Vienna (OTS) – The QUEER MOMENTS initiative will continue its public discourse about a barrier-free society in 2024: On February 2, 2024, QUEER MOMENTS initiator Ortrun Gauper, in cooperation with Schloss Neubuilding, invites all dance enthusiasts to a clubbing with a DJane contest in Simmering. Under the motto “ROYAL QUEER MOMENTS”, together with Ursula Petrovic from the Simmering cultural association, which manages the palace, she is transforming the former Habsburg residence into a cool dance location that is strongly reminiscent of the legendary New York ballrooms of the 80s.
Hot beats until 5am
Directed by drag queen Steva Diva, DJs CounTessa and Catrice Liberty compete against each other in the battle and provide cool moves and hot beats with dance, hip-hop, pop, R&B and trap. A Sparkling Queer Bar from QUEER MOMENTS and a bartender from Crystal Head Vodka provide queer drinks. Dancing takes place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tickets are available in advance for 15 euros www.queermoments.com. Tickets are available at the box office for 20 euros.
Open discourse for social tolerance
The QUEER MOMENTS initiative and Schloss Neubuilding have been working together for more social tolerance for a long time. Ortrun Gauper: “There has always been a colorful society, but for a long time there was a lack of acceptance and appreciation. Queer people had to play a role, not be themselves. But even today we sometimes experience invisible barriers in everyday life that we want to raise awareness of in our society. With this clubbing we want to set another visible example – not least for young people in Simmering.

This is the first LGBTIQ+ clubbing for Schloss Neubuilding and the start of a long-term series of events. This is what it says about Neubuilding Castle: “We are very pleased that we can support the QUEER MOMENTS initiative in its public discourse as a cooperation partner and thus make Simmering a little more colorful.

Local councilor Rudi Kaske, who will open the clubbing, is pleased about the collaboration with the QUEER MOMENTS initiative: “Simmering is a liberal and cosmopolitan district, which is why we advocate for more social tolerance and against prejudice and exclusion throughout the year. Together with QUEER MOMENTS, we have created a platform here in Simmering that sets an example across our district borders and impressively shows that Simmering is there for everyone. Everyone is welcome here and can find a home worth living in.

QUEER MOMENTS event series invites you to social discourse
Several highly acclaimed events have already taken place in Simmering under the umbrella of “QUEER MOMENTS” – including the 1st QUEER BALL in Neubuilding Castle, which invited people across generations and across all district borders to social discourse. In addition to inclusive events such as the QUEER BALL, the program also includes dance events in the outskirts of Vienna, media-effective art photo exhibitions and highly acclaimed awareness-raising measures under the title “Queer Dance in Vienna’s municipal buildings”. The initiative aims to point out invisible social barriers in our society and create a new understanding of appreciative cooperation.
