“Before the world fame on Franz Kafka and the emergence of literary immortality”
Vienna (OTS) –

Franz Kafka has been considered undisputed since the 1940s Icon of world literature. Where did this postume fame of the writer, who was only moderately known during his lifetime? The book “Before the World Fame” shows that writing and speaking about Franz Kafka since his Death in June 1924 in the literary and Jewish public of Central Europe steadily increased. The memory of him was one of one Transnational memory community Between Prague, Vienna, Berlin, Munich and elsewhere, which in the following years and later in exile ensured that the writer was not forgotten. “Before the world fame” offers one New perspective on Kafka’s life And shows that the later world fame had not been created overnight.

The book presentation is accompanied by a reading with excerpts from selected obituaries.
