“Embarrassing! If you don’t even trust every second one in your own state party, then it is time-and without detours. Sepp Schellhorn is not only the most unpopular state party in history, he is now the personalized vote of distrust and even within a 10 percent party,” commented FPÖ general secretary NABG. Michael Schledlitz The Sepp Schellhorn’s belly stain in his election as Salzburg’s Neos boss, in which 48 percent of the Neos members in Salzburg already withdrawn from their state party leader on the day of the election.
“The NEOs, which otherwise always give themselves so liberal and consensus, are now performing in public what they think internally: Schellhorn is intolerable. And if even their own party friends say: ‘Thank you, but no thanks’, then it no longer needs any interpretation – this is a political oath of revelation,” continued Schledlitz.
For the free general secretary, the result is not a slip, but the final point under an unprecedented history of political self -overestimation: “Sepp, it’s over. That’s it. You have to see the right time to leave the stage.”
In the failure of Schellhorn, the FPÖ sees another symptom of the crisis of the so-called “losing ambulos”, which clocks the government due to pure reasons for power, while support breaks away at all levels. Schledlitz concludes: “Whether in Salzburg or in Vienna – the government facade is crumbling. It is high time for a political restart with a supportive look at people and real representatives – and for that we stand freely and Herbert Kickl.”
