Jutta Allmendinger, Germany’s best -known sociologist, puts her lecture on “The aging society – how can evidence -based political advice contribute to our future?” The series of events of Statistics Austria and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) continued. In her keynote, Allmendinger talks about how the aging of society and low birth rates affect the labor market, society and social security systems. In addition, Allmendinger, who was appointed to the Science Council by the German Federal President on February 2025, shows what contribution scientific policy recommendations can make to the design of the education system, family support or old -age insurance.
The ÖAW statistics-Austria lectures illuminate trends and questions of applied statistics with a view to social challenges. With this series, new impulses in dialogue between science and statistics are set in order to strengthen empirical research at the science location of Austria and to improve the basics of evidence -based political design.
