In the Amstetten coache, the Most/4 Festival Vial 2025 on May 16. by regional councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister in representation of governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner in front of 250 guests from politics, culture, economy officially opened. Afterwards there was a concert where the crème de la crème of the Mostviertler Singer Singer Songwriter were on stage. Among the enthusiastic visitors were not only numerous representatives of the 48 festival projects and the 39 festival communities, but also the chair of the Association of African ambassadors Excellence Madame Maïmounata from Burkina Faso.
“With the quarterfestival, we ask in Lower Austria what artistically and culturally moves artists, associations and initiatives,”, the State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister outlined the importance of this large regional cultural festival in her opening address, which has been carried out by the cultural networking of Lower Austria for almost a quarter of a century. The answer to this question takes place in the form of project submissions. There were over 150 for the Most/4 Festival 2025, from which a regional jury selected 48 projects. “It is always astonishing how colorful the program of the quarter festival is and how many different approaches are found to treat topics of the past, but also to treat the present artistically,” said State Councilor Teschl-Hofmeister. The complexity of the program also underlines the subtitle of the festival: “Dei ‘culture, be’ culture, your culture … a lot of culture!” Sigrid Horn set this Claim and sung live on stage live for the first time at the opening – supported by the audience.
A democratic festival
Martin Vogg, Managing Director of the Cultural Networking Lower Austria, led through the official part of the evening and referred to the special features of the quarter festival such as the lack of an artistic direction: “Any projects can submit at the quarter festival, and the selection is made by a regional jury. It is a really democratic festival.”
The managing director of the Kultur.region.niederösterreisterösterreich, Martin Lammerhuber, wrote a very “real” character to the quarterfestival: “The core of the quarter festival is closeness, community, trust, motivation, tradition and innovation. You can feel, experience it. You cannot reject that.”
The new Mostviertler Welle
Sigrid Horn also opened the festival’s first program item, a joint concert Mostviertler Singer Songwriter. As if you were throwing a small stone on a smooth water surface, she started the concert evening first and then together with Sarahbernhardt with very quiet tones. But the new Mostviertler Welle was louder and louder and culminated in a brilliant interplay of the artists that appeared that evening with appearances by Lou Asril, Third Hand, Third Hand, Tini Tramler, Gravögl and Litha. Also present was the musician Djakali Kone, who comes from Burkina Faso and lived in Lower Austria, on May 18. in Ahrenberger Kellergasse as part of the festival with the Hoizign Wurzlbuam and could be heard at the opening with Raoul Gorka. The concert was thus the perfect entry into the festival, in which the diversity and color of Lower Austrian regional culture is celebrated. The many guests of honor were also impressed by the opening concert, above all the ambassador from Burkina Faso and chair of the Association of African ambassadors Excellence Madame Maïmounata, the managing director of the Kultur. Region. Helga Krismer -Huber, ambassador Regina Rusz, the musician Mamadou Diabate, and numerous mayors and community representatives from the approximately 40 festival communities. On behalf of this, the mayor of Amstetten Christian Haberhauer emphasized the innovative power of the quarter festival in the cultural sector for the cities and municipalities of Lower Austria when greeting the guests.
Festival must and festival flipper
For the first time, the festival must and the festival juice of Mostbaron Toni Distelberger could also be tasted at the opening. The must is a mild orchard that was made from the old mustbuling variety “bacon pear”, and the pear juice is a fruit juice made of old must. It was played for the first time at the festival flipper from the stocks of the extensive flipper collectors Günter Freinberger from Ruprechtshofen-even musically accompanied by the singing of Sigrid Horn and the festival jingle.
